Board Roles & Contributions

Full Board Members

Full Board Members are responsible for guiding the strategic, operational, and financial direction of

CAHED. Key contributions include:

• Making policy and fiscal decisions for the organization
• Reviewing and approving programs, initiatives, and committee actions
• Supporting industry recognition programs, scholarships, and educational content
• Providing feedback from members and helping shape conferences and events

Associate Board Members

Associate Board Members serve as advocates for Associate Members and provide critical perspective to the Board. Key contributions include:

• Representing and communicating the needs of Associate Members
• Participating in key committees, including the Tool Belt Committee and Program Taskforce
• Acting as a liaison to ensure members receive full value from CAHED programs and services

Core Expectations (All Board Members)

All CAHED Board members are expected to:

• Attend regular Board meetings and key annual events, including:
• January (full-day board meeting)
• March seminar + board meeting
• May trade show + board meeting (2 days)
• September fall conference + board meeting (2 days)
• November winter conference + board meeting (2 days)
• Respond promptly to Board communications and emails
• Serve on committees or take on additional roles as needed
• Support member engagement by gathering feedback on programs and events

Anticipated Time Commitment

While exact hours vary by role and level of engagement, Board participation typically includes:

• Attendance at 5 major board meetings and events annually (many aligned with conferencesand trade shows)
• Ongoing participation in committee work and Board initiatives
• Time for communication, collaboration, and member outreach throughout the year

Overall expectation:

A consistent, active commitment across the year, with peak involvement around major CAHED events.
