Mt Flora - 13,129'. 6.5 miles roundtrip with 1,800' vertical. Approximately 4-5 hours. A moderately challenging out-and-back (or up and down) route with very little exposure and a well-established trail.
I-70 west to Exit 232 US 40W (Empire/Winter Park) and 15 miles to the top of the pass. Trailhead is located at the parking lot on top of Berthoud Pass, fully accessible to all types of vehicles and there are restrooms. The route starts on an access road from the right side of the parking lot and heads off on a marked trail at the second switchback. From there it is a steady ascent to the summit over mostly tundra with a few rocky sections. A solid workout but not technical with little exposure and easy route finding.
Hike starts at 6:30, come prepared for high altitude hiking with plenty of water and energy.
